Bridge ‘Londonderry Air’
Ravel String Quartet

‘The Elmore Quartet played with the ferocity of musicians determined to make an impact.’ – The Guardian

An exploration of the string quartet’s extraordinary range, from Haydn’s wit and invention to Ravel’s dazzling colour and refinement. The Elmore Quartet, winners of the 2026 Royal Over-Seas League International Music Competition and Hans Keller Chamber Fellows at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, bring together these landmarks with Leo Geyer’s *Unfurling* and Bridge’s deeply evocative *Londonderry Air*, creating a programme that spans more than two centuries of musical imagination.

Concert Programme

Unfurling

Haydn’s Op. 33/1 opens a programme that celebrates the extraordinary range and imagination of the string quartet. Leo Geyer’s new work, Unfurling, brings a fresh contemporary voice to the programme, while Bridge’s evocative setting of ‘Londonderry Air’ offers a brief glimpse into his deeply personal response to the world around him. At its heart is Ravel’s extraordinary String Quartet, a work of colour, imagination and astonishing refinement, and one of the great masterpieces of the repertoire.

  • Artists in Conversation: Meet the musicians and composer Leo Geyer in a pre-concert talk.
